I’m soooo excited about the newest Harry Potter book! It’s the last in the series of seven and will be available in about three and a half weeks.

Seven is also the number of U.S. sweepstakes winners announced last Friday by Harry Potter books U.S. publisher Scholastic Books. These lucky readers get a free trip to London to celebrate the 12:01 a.m. July 21^st release of the last book. Author J.K. Rowling will be there for the midnight premiere reading and booksigning. Wow – how fun!!

I just learned some interesting facts about hula hoops! Did you know:

  Children around the world have been twirling hoops for centuries, including about 3,000 years ago in Egypt. The hoops were made of grape vines and thrown along the ground with sticks.

   “Hooping” was popular in 14^th century England, but some doctors blamed it for back injuries and heart attacks!

  The word “hula” was added to “hoop” in the 18^th century after sailors who visited Hawaii saw a similarity between hula dancing and hooping.

  The current world record for the length of time hula hooping is 90 hours.

  The current world record for the most hula hoops twirled at the same time by the same person is 100 hoops. Ouch!

PingPong the panda loves to hula dance, but will try some hula hooping later this year.

I love sweets, especially dark chocolate. Yummy! Of course, like other pandas, I eat a lot of bamboo shoots and leaves. (Computious appreciates good punctuation and she reminded me of a fabulous book on the importance of proper punctuation. The title, Eats, Shoots & Leaves: The Zero Tolerance Approach to Punctuation, comes from a joke about a panda!)

Although there are different opinions about the health benefits of chocolate, I know this is true for me:
